Loyola's Commitment

Loyola University New Orleans, a Jesuit and Catholic institution of higher education, welcomes students of diverse backgrounds and prepares them to lead meaningful lives with and for others; to pursue truth, wisdom, and virtue; and to work for a more just world. Inspired by Saint Ignatius of Loyola's vision of finding God in all things, the university is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, while also offering opportunities for professional studies in undergraduate and selected graduate programs. Through teaching, research, creative activities, and service, the faculty, in cooperation with the staff, strives to educate the whole student and to benefit the larger community.

Leader in Distance Learning

Loyola is well known for its success in the education of adult non-traditional learners. The University first began providing distance education in 1983 through the Loyola Institute for Ministry Extension Program (LIMEX). Then in the fall of 1990, the Department of Nursing initiated the Off-Campus Learning Program (OCLP) to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at a number of hospital sites throughout Louisiana. In the summer of 2004, a completely online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program was launched with a focus on Health Care Systems Management. Most recently, the School of Nursing started the DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) program offered in an online format in 2010, along with offering the online Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration with two specialization options in Forensic Science Administration and Justice Administration. At the start of 2013, a new specialization Cyber Forensics Investigation and Administration was added to the Criminal Justice Administration program.
