Nursing is a profession that plays an important role in the provision of health care; it creates an opportunity to have an impact in the lives of many people. Although I no longer provide direct patient care, my position as a Nurse Case Manager allows me to deal with the whole person, (not just health related issues),to promote quality cost-effective outcomes.
Nurses are typically known for being compassionate, caring, and trustworthy. Nursing is more than a profession of integrity and compassion, it is a privilege that measures out my values as a human being and the responsibilities granted to me with the precious gift of life. I consistently have the opportunity to serve others, and make a difference in the lives of many through education, caring, prevention, and wellness. The skill sets I have learned through nursing are invaluable.
Besides personal satisfaction, a MSN degree in Leadership in Health Care Systems Management from Loyola University New Orleans, will allow me to be a clinical leader, who designs models of health care delivery, promotes positive clinical outcomes and manages health care needs of varied patient populations. It's a stepping stone for me to prepare for further education at the doctoral level. This degree will provide me with a competitive advantage in the nursing arena. My ultimate goal is to gain knowledge to impact our ever changing health care system. I will achieve my dream of returning to school, and providing service to my community and promoting the overall wellness of individuals, families, and whole communities. This scholarship will give me the help I need to return to school, and upon completion it will allow me to apply my professional interests, medical knowledge and clinical skills as I lead and mentor the next generation of nurses.
