Dr. Mary Burke received her PhD in Adult Education from Louisiana State University, and her MS in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University. Her nursing career focused on surgical and emergency medicine, and she has been teaching since 1995. Dr. Burke is a longstanding member of the American Nurses Association, the SLU Honor Society of Nursing, and a charter member of Rho Zeta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.

She is currently involved in a number of professional and community committees including serving as Chair of the Resources committee as well as the College Undergraduate Research committee. She also serves on ICMSN Communications, which she chaired from 2011-2013, the DNP Program Evaluation committee, the South Louisiana Intercollegiate Research Day Planning committee and the Rho Zeta Succession committee.

Dr. Burke recently presented, “OMG. Did you see THAT on Facebook?” for the Woman’s Hospital Professional Development Day, “Stats Facts: A Statistical Review for Faculty” at the SLU Faculty Development Workshop; and “Technological Stressors of Nurse Educators Teaching Clinical Courses” as a poster presentation at colleges and a professional nursing summit.
